Sewickley, Pennsylvania

Amy Lindenberger will teach a class on using colored pencils on color paper. This special class will be from 10 am to 1 pm on February 27th, 2010 at the Masonic Village in Sewickley. Class will be held in the art studio, lower level of the Clubhouse. Tuition for the 3 hour class is $25. Lunch can either be ordered from the menu or you can bring your own. Following the class you may stay until 3pm to work on your project and bond with the other artists.

My History with Colored Pencil

Colored pencil is a relatively new fine art medium, when compared with oils, watercolors, etc. The Colored Pencil Society of America has increased the popularity of the medium many times over since it first began in 1990. In 1985, I opened The Linden Tree Fine Art Studio in North Canton, OH, offering adult drawing classes, a program of drawing instruction for children and teens ages 5 – 17, and special focus workshops in drawing and colored pencil techniques. Colored Pencil I: Techniques and Color Theory

Objective:	To be able to create a gradual transition of tone and color with colored pencils..
Prerequisites:	Botanical Drawing I

Location:	Phipps Garden Center in Mellon Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The focus of this course is to familiarize students with the tools of the colored pencil medium, color applications, and fundamentals of color theory, and to develop color perception. Colored pencil tones can be applied to look like either drawing or painting depending on the techniques used, providing the versatility to create a wide variety of surface textures. Students will learn how to layer colors to achieve different hues and color densities, as well as how to master a variety of techniques including burnishing, impressed line, and sgraffito.
