Colored Pencil Instruction
My History with Colored Pencil
by Amy Lindenberger
Colored pencil is a relatively new fine art
medium, when compared with oils,
watercolors, etc. However, I've been
working with colored pencil for more than
thirty years, and teaching classes on their
usage for more than a quarter century!

Creative Color Mixing with
Colored Pencil
One of the most difficult aspects of any
color medium is learning how to mix
colors efficiently and without creating
mud. In this class, Amy will teach her
method for creating a composition of
spring flowers using only three colors
plus black and white. This class is ideal
for those new to colored pencil, and
also for experienced students wanting
to expand their knowledge of color
mixing.
Fridays, April 6 and 13
Time: 10 am - 3 pm
Price: $85 for 2-class session

Colored Pencil Portraiture
Colored pencil is an excellent medium
to use for painting portraits due to its
versatility, and the fact that it is neither
subject to drying time nor susceptible to
cracking, blistering or peeling over
time. The technique of blending with a
solvent can be used to lay in the major
forms and values of the skin tone and
hair, then finishing work and details can
be added with the point of the pencil.
Students who are new to this class will
work form a portrait reference that Amy
will provide; students who have taken
this class previously can work on a
portrait already started, a different
reference provided by Amy or their own
reference photo brought to class.
Dates: Fridays,
May 11, 18 and 25
Time: 10 am - 3 pm
Price: $100 for 3-class session
